W Los Angeles-Westwood announced their plans to transform their WET pool deck into Wonderlounge, an electrifying botanical outdoor lounge inspired by the worlds of Alice in Wonderland and Avatar’s Pandora.
As guests enter from the hotel into The Backyard restaurant, they are immediately transported into a world of wonder greeted by an immense visual landscape of color and lights. Bubbles invite guests in while two large canopy trees adorned with colorful jewel-toned silk lanterns signify the entrance onto the Wonderlounge deck. Large inflatable flower sculptures, reminiscent of Daly Chihuly’s artworks, intermingled with large topiaries in playful shapes surrounding the pool create a futuristic garden. The new space allows guests to further interact with flora and fauna as they relax in the newly converted cabanas. Inspired by W Los Angeles’ natural lush gardens, each cabana will glow a different color based on the flower that inspired its specific décor and the interior walls will be decorated with oversized photos of tropical flowers. All the while local DJs will play throughout the night.
As guests take in the newly transformed space, they can indulge in treats from the Wonderlounge menu, created by Executive Chef Monique King, including a selection of specialties such as curried chicken crostini with heirloom tomato salad, chicken satay with marinated cucumber and Mak’s peanut sauce, an assortment of petit fours cakes and Sweet and Spicy summer watermelon to name a few. To further enhance the Wonderlounge experience, guests can choose from an array of cocktails including a larger-than-life martini, “Monster-tini” or “Drink Me,” an interesting mix of gin and Kiwi.
Designed by Joe Lewis Company, Wonderlounge’s light will shine from May 27th to September 4th, each Thursday through Saturday from 7 to 10pm. There is no admission fee, but reservations are recommended for cabanas.
Other summer programming will include the 4th Annual Summer Cinema Series “Show Me The Movies!” (Sundays at Sunset May 25 – Sept 5), WET pool party (every Sunday from 12 to 5PM, beginning May 31st), The Backyard BBQ (Every Saturday and Sunday 12 to 5pm from May 29th-Sept 5th) and Hangover Brunch in The Backyard (Sundays, 10AM to 3PM starting May 29th).
