Geneva, Switzerland – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
A jury of horology professionals, brought together by the magazine “Montres Passion”, recently rewarded the Miss Golden Bridge model with a double award; the Women’s watch of the year 2010 and overall 3rd Prize of the Jury.
Before a panel of 500 people, Antonio Calce, CEO of Corum, received the double award for the Miss Golden Bridge. Elected under total impartiality, the timepiece establishes itself among three horological references and as the Women’s watch of the year 2010. Antonio Calce declared: “This prize pays tribute to Corum’s 160 employees, its partners and suppliers, who contribute to the evolution of the brand and its timepieces all around the world. It is recognition of our know-how in the feminine universe of high horology,
and a strong message for Corum, who forms its creations in a long term strategy”.
Launched at Baselworld this year, the Miss Golden Bridge combines the substance of high horology and feminine elegance. The movement remains an exceptional achievement and a unique watch making expression. Composed of 140 elements, offering a balance wheel with variable inertia, a barrel with slipping spring, a power reserve of 40 hours, and hand-engraved bridges and plate made of fine gold. This concentration of watchmaking know-how is staged in a new, slender, curved tonneau shaped case made of
18kt red gold.
This prize is also recognition that Corum holds a place in the feminine watch making universe. The brand benefits from a strong legitimacy in sports watches, particularly with the Admiral’s Cup collection. For around five years, Corum has invested in the in-depth development of its 4 pillars by function and by gender. The Miss Golden Bridge is exclusively dedicated to women’s wrists.
In 2010, Corum celebrates the 30 years of its legendary Golden Bridge movement. The design and conception of both the calibre and the case have of course evolved, whereas the spirit of the timepiece remains the same. It is a strong message for Corum, whose timepieces are developed with a long term perspective. This prize shows that even thirty years after its creation, the Golden Bridge and its emblematic movement remain front of stage.
Created in 1993 by the Swiss magazine “Montres Passion”, the Prize Watch of the Year rewards the best watch making creations of the year. To be designated among a selection of forty watches, which already result from a first selection of more than one hundred novelties, the models must respond to a number of criteria; their “Swiss Made” label, their price, their launch date on the Swiss market. This award is considered as a reference watch making competition in the industry.
