New York, New York – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
Speaking at a press conference here EL Al Israel Airlines President Elyezer Shkedy said the company remains committed to offering a First Class product from North America and hopes to expand routes with First Class to the Far East in the not too distant future.
Shkedy said offering First Class separates the privately held airline from competitors, particularly to North America where El Al is the only airline with nonstop service to Tel Aviv offering it. Delta, Continental and USAirways all offer business class service as their top-of-the line while European based airlines such as British Airways and Lufthansa do compete for First Class traffic but require a connection.
The El Al president said, “There are very important clients for El Al, and for these clients the choice is between First Class or their private jets” so the airline will be offering improvements in the future to ensure it keeps this high yield front-of-the-plane market loyal.
In other news, he reported Yedioth Aharonoth had rated El Al “#1 brand in Israel” while U.S.-based Global Traveler Magazine had recognized his company for “Best Airline Security.” He said that the airline’s mainly ex-military pilots and mechanics gave it strong operating credentials and despite its worldwide network the carrier was still “small enough to care.”
