Diners at La Terrasse, Bellevue Palace’s gourmet on-site restaurant, can now get a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes in the kitchen via iPad and webcam. And at the start of 2011, a chat function will be enabled as well, so that guests can communicate directly with the chef.
Even though Bellevue Palace is an elegantly classic hotel—the choice of Swiss politicos in the nation’s capital—the Victoria-Jungfrau Collection team is taking advantage of technology to add a little pizzazz to the hotel’s impeccable service and traditional décor. Diners at La Terrasse are now being served iPads with live video feed from the kitchen, which was recently renovated, along with digital access to the menu and the hotel’s prestigious guest book.
Head chef Gregor Zimmermann is excited by the innovative use of iPads in his GaultMillau-rated restaurant. “Often kitchens have very little contact with guests in the dining room except if the chef comes out to meet and walk around, but now, guests can really feel that they are a part of the whole behind-the-scenes cooking experience and still have an intimate dinner.”
