Jakarta, Indonesia – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
In a partnership with the Masari Group, Bali-based jeweler John Hardy has opened its first retail outpost after more than 19 years in the business.
The opulent 22-square-foot boutique is located in Jakarta’s Plaza Indonesia, a high-end shopping center. The space was inspired by Bali’s natural beauty and was designed to mimic the rice terraces and bamboo groves of the John Hardy workshop. The company’s creative director and head designer, Guy Bedarida, handcrafted a set of custom carved door handles using sterling silver, Indonesian black palm wood, moon quartz and a pavé of black sapphires, to set a decadent tone from the moment guests enter the store. Within the space, hand-carved bamboo flooring and 15 floor-to-ceiling bamboo columns showcase baubles—including the full John Hardy range, as well as select items from the one-of-a-kind Cinta collection—within silver-framed cases.
“Given that all John Hardy jewelry is handmade by craftsmen at our workshop in Bali, we are proud to launch our first flagship store here in Indonesia,” Bedarida said. John Hardy CEO Damien Dernoncourt added, “Together with Masari Group, who has a wealth of experience as a successful retailer, we believe this is a great opportunity to showcase the world of John Hardy and better service our customers.” To celebrate the flagship’s opening, Bedarida has designed two one-of-a-kind pieces: An 18K yellow gold and sterling silver Macan pendant is set with shimmering blue and white sapphires, while a Naga cuff boasts cabochon rubies and a diamond pavé.
