New York, New York – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Fantasy meets sophisticated chic at the third Mondrian hotel, which opened on March 1, in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood. Already a celebrated lifestyle brand, Mondrian, of Morgans Hotel Group, is known for its distinct style of hospitality, nightlife and entertainment.
Mondrian Soho is luxurious, yet approachable. The building, situated on picturesque Crosby Street, is a classically proportioned modern glass tower that complements its surroundings. The interiors are a blend of whimsy and romance, stylish comfort and chic modern accents. Drawing inspiration from Jean Coucteau’s 1946 French fantasy film “La Belle et la Bête,” Benjamin Noriega Ortiz and Morgans’ in-house design team created a vibrant retreat that truly stirs the imagination, and reflects the charm and energy of Soho.
The hotel offers 270 accommodations, four of which are expansive suites with private terraces. The 1,170-square-foot Penthouse, on the hotel’s 25th floor, offers gorgeous panoramic views to the north and south. Elegant jewel-box rooms, capturing the essence of New York loft living, feature large dramatic mirrors, sparkling chrome desks, angelic white beds, 10-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Just off the lobby, chef Sam Talbot introduces his sustainable seafood concept at the 150-seat Imperial No. Nine restaurant. Above a large, mirror-topped communal table hangs a lavish cluster of crystal chandeliers, and a garden area, sheltered by a glass roof, comes alive with potted plants and natural ficus trees. An oversized glass sculpture by acclaimed artist Beth Lipman plays centerpiece to the fantastical space.
Enter Mister H, the hotel’s innovative nightlife venue, via the back entrance at 150 Lafayette. The locale’s rich, red interiors have been adorned with an eclectic collection of Chinese furniture, lanterns and imports. Original artwork depicts the Year of the Rabbit, and mirrors, plush fabrics and an abundance of reds round out the playful, hospitable ambience.
