Fairmont Hotels & Resorts announced a new addition to its Asia offerings: The Fairmont Taiyuan, scheduled to open in 2014. Fairmont Taiyuan joins Fairmont hotels in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Yangcheng Lake, China.
Chris Cahill, President of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said, “China is a key market for the global expansion of [our] company, to support our hotels within the country as well as to create brand awareness with Chinese international travelers. The addition of Taiyuan allows us to continue building synergies in the region, particularly in Northern China and to become part of an exciting new chapter of this historic city, with partners who are leading the development of this emerging new business district.”
Taiyuan, an important industrial city with a 2,500-year history, is located in Northern China and is the capital of Shanxi Province. The historic city is bordered by majestic mountains including the famed Tianlong with its ancient grottos, and it is home to over 1,500 statues and embossings dating back to 420 and spanning 10 dynasties. Fairmont Taiyuan will stand tall and radiant along the Fen River, offering breathtaking views, and will be within walking distance of the new Central Business District in Taiyuan.
Business and leisure travelers alike will be enchanted by the hotel’s prime location, and inside the Fairmont Taiyuan, they’ll be surrounded by luxury and spacious accommodations. The hotel will have 300 guest rooms and suites, located on the upper floors of the tower anchoring the development. An extensive selection of lounges and restaurants featuring a variety of culinary offerings is sure to please those with a sophisticated palate.
The hotel’s planned 3,500 square meters of event space, including a 1,500-square-meter ballroom, promises the perfect venue for corporate events and local galas. Guests will also be invited to kick back and enjoy the Willow Stream Spa, Fairmont’s award-winning signature spa brand, as well as fitness and pool facilities. Willow Stream offers energy-inspired therapies, drawing from modern Western and traditional Chinese philosophies, using only the best spa products.
Other Fairmont properties scheduled to open in Asia include Fairmont Makati, Philippines (2012), Fairmont Nanjing, China (2012) and Fairmont Jakarta (2014).
