Gstaad, Switzerland- Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

Marcus G. Lindner was recently appointed Executive Chef of The Alpina Gstaad, the first luxury hotel in the charming village of Gstaad to be built in 100 years. Although the new $337 million dollar luxury development is not scheduled to open until December 1, Managing Director Niklaus Leuenberger already appointed Lindner responsibility of the property’s three restaurants. Guests dinning at the five-star property will have the option to choose from the first European outlet of MEGU, an award-winning Japanese restaurant, a traditional Swiss stübli, and an all-day dining restaurant with an international menu. Lindner will also oversee menus from the Bar-Lounge, the Dining Terrace and all banquet facilities.

Throughout Chef Lindner’s 32-year career, he has directed the kitchens in some of Europe’s most renowned luxury hotels including the Grand Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau, Strandhotel & Restaurant Belvédère and the Kurhaus Baden-Baden. Recently, Lindner was the Executive Chef at Mesa, one of Zurich’s top restaurants. At Mesa, Lindner earned two Michelin stars and 18 points from Gault Millau, who named him “Up and Coming Chef of the Year” in 2010. Lindner was also the Executive Chef at the five-star Interalpen Hotel Tyrol in Telfs, Austria and Hotel Hermitage, a Relais & Chateaux in Zurich.

“Marcus has created dining experiences for some of the world’s most discerning clientele. He brings a very unique vision to Gstaad,” explained Leuenberger. “I am very pleased that Marcus is joining us at The Alpina Gstaad and am confident that he will add a new dimension to dining in Gstaad that is exciting for locals and a special part of the trip for visitors.”

Commenting on his appointment, Chef Lindner noted, “The Alpina Gstaad is the most exciting new hotel on the horizon in Switzerland today. There really will be nothing else like it. The architecture and design will be second to none, and the kitchen is ‘as good as it gets.’ I am approaching this new challenge in my career with all my energy and dedication to make sure The Alpina is the new culinary destination in Gstaad.”

In addition to fabulous dining options, The Alpina Gstaad will include private apartments within the 56 room hotel and two chalets. The luxury hotel’s design is based on a contemporary interpretation of traditional Swiss architecture, incorporating authentic local materials and time-honored alpine style. Guests at The Alpina Gstaad will also enjoy luxurious amenities, including a 21,000 square foot Six Senses Spa, indoor and outdoor pools, cigar lounge, private cinema, wine tasting room, ballroom and meeting rooms.
