London, UK – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
Legendary chef Raymond Blanc OBE has taken inspiration from the great brasseries of France to create Brasserie Blanc in the heart of London’s Covent Garden. Many of the dishes are borrowed from the chef’s mother, Maman Blanc, and the restaurant enjoys a beautiful location overlooking this historic West End piazza.
Brasserie Blanc prides itself on using seasonal ingredients, including sustainable, free-range or freedom foods. Current highlights include Burgundian snails in garlic herb butter; slow braised lamb shoulder with olives; free range Cornish steaks; and a flaming baked Alaska to finish.
As well as the 100-cover dining room, Brasserie Blanc opens out onto the picturesque Opera Terrace—right opposite the Royal Opera House—which can accommodate up to 100 guests. The restaurant also features a stand-alone cocktail bar with its own entrance from the Jubilee Market. Bar Blanc offers a lunch menu with salads, steaks and sharing plates until 4.30pm daily, together with a cocktail list designed by The Cocktail Club’s JJ and James, winners of the 2009 series of BBC2’s The Restaurant. Signature creations include the Rose Petal Martini, a blend of gin, cranberry, Miclo rose liqueur and peach purée served straight up and decorated with a petal and rose water mist. Other Bar Blanc highlights include London’s largest selection of absinthe, served slowly dripped over sugar cubes. For private drinks functions, an intimate cocktail bar Little B is also available for exclusive hire for up to 40 people.
Born in Besançon, France, Raymond Blanc (62) has long been one of Britain’s most respected chefs. As well as Brasserie Blanc, he owns and runs Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, the hotel-restaurant in Oxfordshire with two Michelin stars and a 9/10 score in the Good Food Guide.
