Retro Cocktail Salon, Lantern’s Keep, Puts the Fashion in Old Fashioned

New York, New York—Reported by Coleman Bentley for Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

If you have ever watched episode of Boardwalk Empire, HBO’s emmy-winning ode to the glamorous push-pull politics of the prohibition-era, you are more than familiar with the sultry speakeasy aesthetic that Lantern’s Keep has brought to the upscale New York bar scene. So slick your hair back and button-up that three-piece suit, this bar has just the drink for you.

Located in the Iroquois Hotel and a World’s Best Hotel Bar nominee for the 2012 Tales of the Cocktail Award, Lantern’s Keep—a favorite hotspot for fashionistas, theatre-goers and business professionals alike –is changing Midtown Manhattan’s imbibed-landscape. Never content to rest on laurels, however, Lantern’s Keep recently asked Head Barkeep Theo Liberman to concoct a contemporary twist on a time honored classic. Thus the The McKittrick Old Fashioned was born. Mixed with Bourbon, sherry and mole bitters, The McKittrick Old Fashioned, like all of Theo’s drinks, is inspired by a different period of the Temperance Movement. Named after the abandoned hotel that hosts the hit off Broadway show Sleep No More, this drink is 90 years of history in a highball.
