Hot Springs, Virginia – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia, and Canyon Ranch of Tucson, Arizona, have announced a partnership to create a new spa, and fitness experience in the Allegheny Mountains of southwest Virginia. Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead will combine the finest attributes of the birthplace of southern hospitality and the pioneer of the wellness lifestyle. A rich sampling of the services that have made Canyon Ranch among the most-renowned names in the spa industry will now be available to guests of The Homestead. Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead will be the company’s first venture in the Mid-Atlantic region and the first SpaClub to introduce family spa services when it debuts in spring 2013.
Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead will be an expansive, state-of-the-art facility for guests to experience a touch of Canyon Ranch. A signature feature will be Aquavana®, an exclusive European-inspired aqua thermal oasis with experiential rains, herbal laconium, a chill room and crystal steam room focused on the ancient concept of “healing by water” as practiced for centuries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. There will also be heated loungers on the men’s and women’s side. Fed by mineral spring waters drawn from the surrounding mountains, the Aquavana experience aligns harmoniously with The Homestead’s historic healing tradition of “taking the waters” which has drawn travelers since the mid 1700s, including Thomas Jefferson.
That same harmony can be experienced at the Jefferson Springs spa garden at The Homestead, opening this fall as the first feature of the new Canyon Ranch SpaClub. A year-round sanctuary for adults only, Jefferson Springs features indigenous hot springs, therapeutic geothermal mineral bath, river reflexology bed, co-ed Finnish sauna, spring-fed whirlpool, and private poolside cabanas. The refuge is accessed via walking paths warmed with radiant heat.
Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead will offer a variety of opportunities to explore the rewards of living a healthier, longer, more vibrant life. This will be the first Canyon Ranch SpaClub to introduce family spa services, with special enticements and activities, such as a Stars Facial and Pink Bubbles Pedicure geared for guests aged four and older. Additional services will include a range of Canyon Ranch signature treatments including the Mineral Springs Mud Wrap, Muscle Melt for ‘Road Warriors,’ Amber Blueberry Manicure and Pedicure, Target Heart-Rate Determination and Nutrition for Wellness. There will also be healing and restorative massages, skin care and body therapies, three fitness studios, a movement therapy and Pilates room and a cycling studio. An on-site exercise physiologist, nutritionist and services advisor will be available to assess guests’ needs and help guide their experience. Stylish design will complement Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead with locker rooms for women and men, beauty salon and relaxation lounges. Additionally, the Canyon Ranch Café, a full-service restaurant, will offer guests indulgently healthy cuisine, exquisitely prepared, that’s good for body and soul.
Founded in 1979, Canyon Ranch has grown into an internationally renowned wellness experience that draws travelers to destinations across the United States as well as on the high seas. “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Homestead,” stated Jerry Cohen, vice chairman and CEO of Canyon Ranch. “The indigenous mineral springs coupled with our spa and fitness offerings will provide guests with an oasis for relaxation and rejuvenation.”
Peter Faraone, vice president and general manager of The Homestead added, “Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead will be one-of-a-kind in the southeast, introducing our clientele to the spa experience of Canyon Ranch. The Homestead, one of the first spas in America, has been an innovator since before the American Revolution and we are excited to take it to the next level through our partnership with Canyon Ranch.”
Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead is the latest chapter of an ongoing transformation of the historic resort. Launched in summer 2012, the $25 million project has already seen dramatic enhancements across the 3,000-acre property. New and continuing additions include Allegheny Springs, a two-acre family-friendly attraction featuring the waterborne excitement of Mountain Rush; and new restaurants and bar options to appeal to the contemporary dining preferences of resort guests. Construction on the new Canyon Ranch SpaClub at The Homestead will begin in September with completion in spring 2013.
