Pets can frolick in the pool of private suites at Eden Roc at Cap Cana.
The latest, greatest hotel in Punta Cana on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic officially opened recently with a VIP “Very Important Pet” Program ideal for posh pets.
“We understand and appreciate the emotional attachment our guests share with their pets, which is why we decided to create this program,” said Daniele Trombacco, Director of Sales and Marketing. “The program allows both our guests and their pets to enjoy a relaxing vacation as it was meant to be experienced, without the worry of being away from each other.”
Upon arrival, pets can check into their suite equipped with appealing amenities including fresh food, water bowls, a wide variety of pet treats, plush towels, royal dog bedding and a cat deluxe litter. Pets weighing up to 30 pounds are welcome and allowed access to the Eden Roc Hotel and Caletón Beach Club, excluding indoor restaurants and the Spa. Additionally, pets can enjoy swimming in the ocean and private suite pools, while common pool areas will not be permitted.
The “Very Important Pet” program costs $50 USD daily. Additional services such as emergency pet food and dog sitting and walking are also available for a fee of at $8 USD for 30 minutes per dog and $12 USD for two dogs.
Taking a pet to the Caribbean can be a hassle, depending on the island. But not so on the DR. Pet immigration rules for the Dominican Republic require dogs and cats to have a rabies vaccination certification and a health certificate from your country of origin that is valid for at least 30 days.
