The Homestead, the stately mountain retreat in West Central Virginia that boasts one of the country’s oldest golf courses as well as natural geothermal hot springs (discovered by Thomas Jefferson) is just completing a five-year, $25-million renovation that decidedly moves the resort into the cutting-edge of the 21st Century.
At the top of the new-jack list is an inventive spa program by Canyon Ranch SpaClub. Bringing in popular elements from its other spa-lover properties, like the Aquavana thermal circuit and holistic cuisine and lifestyle programs, Canyon Ranch is also incorporating the area’s very special geothermal waters into a fully unique offering for fans of luxury pampering.
Other key expansions in the renovation include a full-property interior refresh, the completion of a brand-new, multi-pool outdoor water pavilion, new cuisine options…you name it. The combination of the resort’s perennial “down home” mountain activities–from equestrian pursuites to sporting clays–with new inspirations–from the Canyon Ranch partnership to new Segue outdoor tours–should make The Homestead a very unique and appealing luxury destination on the East Coast.
