There are several places known for good surfing in many countries.
In Mexico, the most famous is Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca, featuring fast and gnarly waves reachable only by elite surfers. In the rest of the country, you may find
waves of all kinds in the states of Guerrero, Michoacan, Jalisco, Nayarit, Sinaloa and the Baja Peninsula. Our Baja Sur state has quality waves located in three regions: Scorpion bay in the north, Todos Santos in the southwest and Los
Cabos on the southern tip. Cabo San Lucas, San Jose and the East Cape have several good surf spots but not all for the skill of the average surfer.
The Cabo Surf Hotel is fortunate to sit in front of a mellow, longboard surf brake. The beach is known as Playa Acapulquito or “Old Man’s”. It is hard to put in words the experience of waking up in the morning, looking at the surf from the room’s terrace, and deciding to walk a few steps and plunge into the water. It is a luxury to locate your vacation on this surf spot with great hotel amenities.
Hotel accommodations are upscale with ultra-comfortable beds, Spanish fine linens and draperies, travertine floors, granite lavatory tops, tropical wood furniture and L’Occitane bath amenities. All rooms have a terrace that overlooks the water and several contain Jacuzzi tubs or hammocks. All rooms offer complementary Wi-Fi, cable TV and air conditioning. You sense the cool and tropical atmosphere inside but it’s the inspiring ocean views and proximity to the ocean that separates this boutique property from the rest. The new shore villas each come with a wide pocket door window that opens facing your bed, exposing stunning ocean views.
7 Seas Seafood Grille provides a fine-dining experience featuring fresh seafood on a eclectic, Mexican-influenced menu. The talented kitchen staff will surprise you with tasty creations for every meal of the day. Food Service is catered to the pool and the beach as well. A well-picked wine selection stocks the restaurant’s cellar. The hotel Margarita and Tequila bar is a must stop before sitting for dinner or while sipping cocktails as the sunset’s color reflects on the ocean’s endless horizon.
The Cabo Surf Shop has a wide rental selection of shortboards, longboards, boogie boards and stand-up paddleboards. There is no need to rent a car to go from the surf shop to the surfing spot, its all there. You can also avoid the expense of flying your board down and all the associated handling risks.
The shop is also home to the MikeDoyleSurfSchool, the first of its kind in Cabo. The experienced surf instructors, all certified by the NationalSurfSchools and Instructors Association are on duty every day. A video is shown before the lesson and then students are taught on the beach and in the water with special trainer softboards that Mike Doyle created in California.
Finally, a visit to Cabo Surf can only be considered complete with a fine massage, rejuvenating facial or a care taking body wrap from the Sea Spa & Salon. Wedding brides and bridesmaids enjoy having the complete services of nails, makeup and hair done at the beauty salon by the skilled estheticians.
Visit this secret spot and see if the surf is in your heart.
