Carl F. Bucherer celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. Along with innovations in its womens lines , a new in-house movement for its Manero watch and a stunning new tourbillon, this striking update to the chunky Patravi TravelTec 4x was a highlight of the show.
The 13th version of Harry Winston’s annual single-watchmaker Opus project, this time by F.P. Journe collaborator Ludovic Ballouard, presents something of an horological engine. A rotary movement sets off a series of “rocker pins” that offset 59 minute blades and 11 hour blades to tell the time, with a dramatic pin re-set at the 12th hour.
Make no mistake; this watch could save your life. Breitling reintroduces its Emergency watch this year, which first appeared in the 1990s. The wrist instrument now features dual-fequency locator beacons, one on 406 MHz for satellite communication and one on 121.5 MHz for local search and rescue. In times of trouble, dual antennae pop out from two side lugs.

An incredible Bird’s Nest minute repeater with an intricate 3D animated sculpture based on a drawing by Mr. Jaquet-Droz also drew a lot of attention at the company’s booth.
