Viceroy Hotel Group’s first branded property in Manhattan is slated to open this fall, ushering in a new era of luxury hospitality in the city that never sleeps.

The newly built Viceroy New York is located on 57th street between 6th and 7th Avenues and promises to unite leading names in hotel development, architecture, design, and cuisine.

“The New York market has been waiting for the Viceroy name for some time, and we have wanted to be there,” said Bill Walshe, CEO of Viceroy Hotel Group. “Our first Viceroy branded hotel in the city has to be exceptional, and this development is quite simply perfect. This is a hotel that will stand apart from its competitors; it will be incredible.”

Renowned design firm Roman and Williams has taken control of both the hotel’s architecture and interiors, hoping to blend downtown aesthetics with uptown sophistication and break the mold of typical midtown properties. The building’s sleek façade is enhanced by details such as over-scaled, fluted, cast-glass bricks at the street level, brass fluting at the base, and black muntined windows, recalling the glamour of the area’s pre-war days. The interior, on the other hand, features sweeping spaces, gorgeous views of the city and Central Park, and tailoring in exotic wood, supple leather, and metal accents. Amenities include Sferra linens, Neil George spa products, in-room spa services, and Illy coffee machines.

Among the hotel’s grand yet understated public spaces are a striking double-height lobby, a world-class fitness center, an indoor swimming pool, and several function areas; all of these spaces incorporate figured stone, a newly revived element of the city’s early-20th century buildings. This glamour and sophistication is only heightened in the lobby, whose design incorporates Paonazzo marble and creates a sense of timeless elegance.

Kingside, the hotel’s street-level bar and restaurant, will couple Chef Marc Murphy’s interpretation of New American Cooking with the cocktail and wine offerings of the Gerber Group, a leader in hospitality and nightlife. These cocktails, along with small plates from Kingside, will also be available at the hotel’s rooftop lounge and deck for those who wish to enjoy their refreshments with a panoramic view of the city.

Viceroy New York is in development by Ark Partners, a private real estate investment company. Ark Partners Chairman Brad Reiss discussed the decision to invest in the property.

“Our vision for this project was to deliver a luxury hospitality product in an iconic building, embodying the Golden Era of New York in an incomparable and irreplaceable location,” Reiss said. “We believe the Viceroy brand, which embodies innovative design and superior guest service, will bring a hotel experience highly desired in New York City.”
