Michelin starred chef Philip Howard is set to visit Six Senses Laamu in the southern Maldives for three exclusive events in November.
As Head Chef and co-owner of The Square in London’s Mayfair from its opening in December 1991, his distinctive modern French cuisine has enjoyed great success and he has been awarded two Michelin stars – one in 1994 and the second in 1998.
Philip will be presenting his signature five-course dinner at the resort’s ‘LEAF Restaurant’ on Monday, November 25 and Wednesday, November 27. On Tuesday, November 26, he will be holding a Master Class in the Cooking Hut. He will also be attending the General Managers cocktail, where guests will have the opportunity to chat with him and perhaps glean a culinary tip or two.
Following the resorts’ concept, Philip will be using both local and fresh ingredients from the organic garden, which perched atop, is the dinner venue – ‘LEAF Restaurant’. The resort also works with Maldivian fishermen and farmers to source the freshest and finest ingredients.
Referred to as a chef’s chef, Australian-born Philip studied bio-chemistry at university and signed up for an apprenticeship at Roux Restaurants before working with such heavyweights as Simon Hopkinson and Marco Pierre White.
He has spent much of his career nurturing young chefs, making The Square a proud training ground for a new generation of chefs. Both his second and third restaurants have also been awarded Michelin stars: two stars for Ledbury and one star for Kitchen W8.
Reservations are required for the events at Six Senses Laamu. The Signature Dinner at LEAF starts at $135 per person, and the Master Class is available from $90 per person.
