According to Kerri Anderson, International Director for the Americas at the Tourism and Events Queensland organization, new luxury tourism developments in Northeastern Australia are coming on strong for the winter and spring.
First off, the private island chic/barefoot luxury resort of Hayman Island, which was recently bought by One&Only, will emerge from its extensive renovation as the One&Only Hayman Island in March of this year. Expect a raft of new amenities, including an increase in larger accommodations to house elite multi-generational getaways and an extensive upgrade to the legendary Hayman pool facilities.
The new Outback oasis of Crystalbrook Lodge, located a few hundred kilometers due west of Cairns, now allows high-end travelers an enviable “triple threat” on their next visit to Queensland. A charming five-bedroom takeover property on a gorgeous barramundi-stocked lake, the lodge opens up the idea of a five-star outback experience to go along with the region’s outstanding Great Barrier Reef and rainforest properties.
Bedarra Island, totally levelled due to storm damage, has reopened in a smaller, more-luxurious format with just seven gorgeous villas. Similarly, Orpheus Island has changed ownership and just relaunched operations after a major renovation.
