Four Seasons Hotel George V Introduces Exciting New Guest Activities

By Chris Boyle

By Chloe Rickert

jogGuests can enjoy more than just luxury accommodations thanks to the newest programs launched by the team at Paris’s Four Seasons Hotel George V.

Taking place both in and outside of the hotel, these activities are uniquely Parisian and offered exclusively to guests of Four Seasons and the restaurant Le Cinq.

To start, Jeff Leatham’s Floral Arrangement Class highlights Artistic Director Jeff Leatham’s floral art, which is celebrated around the world. His creations with flowers have been commissioned for events from the reopening of the Museum of Modern Art to Tina Turner’s wedding. In 2012, Oprah Winfrey invited him to participate in a “dream job” themed episode of her famous television show.

Now every three months, Leatham will organize a workshop in one of the hotel’s salons, offered to hotel and restaurant Le Cinq’s guests upon reservation at the concierge. These lessons will include an hour-long floral arrangement demonstration followed by a hands-on opportunity to assist Leatham with his newest creation, which will be displayed in the hotel lobby for the next month.

“More than a class that teaches how to arrange flowers, it is a magical and unforgettable moment where our guests have the privilege to be able to assist. It is a unique moment in the company of one of the most Rock & Roll florists in the world,” said Christian Clerc, regional vice president and general manager of the Four Seasons Hotel George V.

Leatham comes up with a different theme each month and crafts his designs with 9,000 flowers that are delivered each week from Holland. With his new workshop, he can share his passion and talent with guests interested in the creation of his beautiful bouquets.

The Market with the Chef activity offers restaurant and hotel guests a trip outside the hotel to tag along to the market with Chef Eric Briffard of the two Michelin-starred restaurant Le Cinq at Four Seasons Hotel George V.

Once a month from April to October, Chef Briffard organizes a trip to a Parisian market to share his secrets for finding the best produce with a select number of guests. Each participant is given a basket before the short walk from the hotel to the market, which features a range of vegetable growers, cheese makers and butchers. After the visit, dressed in aprons and toques, the group meets back in the hotel kitchen where the Chef gives an informal recipe demonstration and invites guests to participate in the preparation. Once it’s finished, each guest is welcome to taste the completed dish with a glass of champagne.

Clerc explained his “Market with the Chef” idea: “There is nothing more typical of France than to discover a food market with the colorful stalls, meet the merchants and hear them talk about their products with passion, and the market’s convivial atmosphere that instantly puts you in a good mood. We wanted to give our guests the opportunity to visit a typical Parisian market with a great Chef.”

Two employees of the hotel, athletes and jogging enthusiasts themselves, dreamt up the “Cultural Jogging” experience, a weekly excursion that is complimentary for guests of the hotel.

Every Tuesday from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m., guests supervised by hotel staff can experience Paris while the city is just waking up. The early morning run is about 5.5 miles and includes spectacular sights of the EiffelTower, the Champs Elysées, the Seine, the Tuileries, the Louvre and the area near la Concorde.

The first volunteer to try out the run was Clerc who said, “More than just jogging, it is a real rediscovery of Paris to which we invite our guests, a much more intimate way to experience the beauty of the city, early in the morning, with the unique satisfaction of feeling you have Paris just for yourself.”
