Luxury yachts are sailing into Singapore for the Singapore Yacht Show 2014, which takes place from April 10 to 13 at ONE°15 Marina Club, Sentosa Cove.
With this year’s event presenting Asia’s largest-ever exhibition of luxury boats and yachts, and with Sunseeker Asia dubbing last year’s event “by far the best show in Asia”, there is a distinct buzz for the fourth edition of the show.
Andy Treadwell, managing director of event owners Singapore Yacht Events, says the fact that many significant brands have chosen to make their Asia debut at the show is testament to SYS’s track record of attracting high net worth individuals who are eager to discover all that yachting has to offer.
Among the yachts exhibiting in the region for the first time is the brand new and elegant 88 Motor Yacht by Princess Yachts and a luxury Indonesia motor sailing yacht ‘Dunia Baru’, presented by NJ Asia, which makes her international debut.
Other notable vessels include the sleek ‘Silver Bullet’ by Chris Craft, which visitors might recognise from ‘Twilight – Breaking Dawn’, the striking 67m S/Y ‘Vertigo’, which is one of the world’s most awarded superyachts, the stunning 50m explorer yacht M/Y ‘Exuma’ and luxurious 60m M/Y ‘Cloud 9’.
Singapore now holds the title of the most expensive city in the world according to Economist Intelligence Unit’s most recent survey, and WealthInsight ranked it as the third highest city in the world for resident multi-millionaires*.
As a result, the appetite for luxury goods in Singapore has never been stronger, and the Yacht Show has shown dramatic growth reflecting the desire for leisure pursuits befitting the affluent cosmopolitan locals.
More than 11,000 unique visitors registered for the 2013 Singapore Yacht Show, with more than 70 vessels (22 over 20m) and 2,513sqm of exhibition space on display representing 100 luxury brands.
Lürssen is the latest in an expanding roll call of prominent superyacht builders exhibiting at this year’s Singapore Yacht Show, which includes Alloy Yachts, Heesen Yachts, Perini Navi, Palmer Johnson, Gulf Craft and Rossinavi. Lürssen has launched 50 superyachts, including ten in excess of 100m, and has a strong focus on the East.
