The iconic Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Eden-Roc Pavilion and its famous seawater swimming pool this year.
Built in 1914, the Eden-Roc pavilion was naturally integrated into the Napoleonic style of the Grand Hotel du Cap building to form the legendary palace it is today.
This season, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc – located in the south of France – will take visitors on a journey through time, showcasing the storied history, important individuals, significant milestones and other elements that have shaped the property over the last century.
To mark the special occasion and commencing the festive season, a gala dinner will be held on May 9 at the Eden-Roc restaurant, recalling the life of the 1900s.
The dinner will include signature dishes that marked the last century, prepared by Executive Chef Arnaud Poette and Chef Olivier Gaiatto. These two talents will be accompanied by Eric Pansu, executive chef of the Paul Bocuse House, to celebrate the art of the French gastronomy. The dinner, which includes wine pairings, is $968 per person.
Continuing the celebration, silent films – including the Charlie Chaplin collection – will be shown on giant screens during the summer to commemorate the artists of the famous period.
To round off the festivities, another gourmet dinner with wine pairings will be held on September 5 at the Eden-Roc restaurant in the presence of three of the World’s Best Sommeliers, including Serge Dubs (1989), Markus Del Monego (1998) and Andreas Larson (2007).
The menu will be created and prepared by a variety of the Oetker Collection’s famous chefs, including executive chefs and pastry chefs from Le Bristol Paris, Brenners Park Hotel & Spa, Le Château Saint-Martin & Spa, Palais Namaskar and Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
The Eden-Roc pavilion was originally the tearoom of the Grand Hotel du Cap, frequented by royalty, maharajahs, businessmen and artists who lived in Cap d’Antibes. It was at this time that the legendary seawater infinity swimming pool was carved out of the basalt rock, since becoming one of the most emblematic aspects of the property.
