July 10th is the 41st Bahamian Independence Day. However, some American pilots will be celebrating U.S. Independence testing their flying skills in a holiday “Fly In” from Ft. Myers, Florida to Treasure Cay, Abaco.
Led by veteran pilot, Captain, Mark Steinberg, Chairman of The Bahamas Ambassador Fly In Program, some 54 fliers on 24 airplanes will make the one and one half hour journey July 2-6, 2014.
Sponsored by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, timing is “in celebration of the USA Independence holiday.”
Flying at an altitude of 3,500 to 5,500 feet, pilots and their passengers “can expect to behold the unmatched beauty of the crystal clear waters of The Bahamas, a scene so intriguing, NASA’s pilots captured and documented it from outer space.”
One the ground will be activities including a celebratory beach barbecue with “American traditional dishes, prepared Bahamian style.” And while not eating or flying visits to other near-by islands will feature the chance to fish, dive, snorkel and relax.

The Bahamas Fly-In Ambassador program, is a joint initiative with the BMOT and The Bahamas Aviation Department to increase pilots participation into The Islands Of The Bahamas and consist of seasoned pilots with extensive experience in flying into and around The Islands Of The Bahamas.
Of course, if you prefer to be a passenger in your Gulfstream or Boeing Business Jet, The Bahamas wants you too. Freeport and Nassau provide U.S. immigration pre-clearance when returning to the U.S.
