Hasselblad has launched two new limited edition versions of its popular Lunar camera.
You’ll have to move fast as iconic camera maker Hasselblad – famous for engineering some of the most advanced cameras on the planet and also for being the camera of choice for NASA’s moon astronauts – is offering a special Lunar Limited Edition model with a total production run of just four hundred.
The new models – available in either silver chrome or gold chrome – will come with a €7,875 (plus tax) price tag and the company will make just two hundred of each version.
Hasselblad’s International Sales Director Michele Channer said: “Since we launched our stunning new Lunar model, we have been inundated with requests for even more exclusive models. Price is not a concern for these camera art lovers -they are happy to pay more to get exactly what they want. And what they want is to own an exclusive, iconic Hasselblad camera that is best- in-class technology but handcrafted with a superior, ultra-luxurious finish.” She added: “We hope to fulfil this demand with our new Lunar Limited edition model. It comes in either gold chrome or silver chrome finish and we are making just two hundred of each version – complete with bespoke edition number engraving and a unique mix of materials and design, including deerskin leather grip; piano black shiny rear body and a superior quality black Zeiss 16-70mm lens for superb image sharpness and range.”
White-gloved expert Hasselblad craftsmen in Sweden painstakingly shape each limited edition unit – it takes over two hours simply to upholster the supreme quality deerskin leather grip. Anna-Maria Bogehed, Lunar Production Supervisor said: “Every detail is handled with extreme care and precision and our quest for peerless quality starts with our raw materials.” She added: “Hasselblad craftsmen in Italy have painstakingly engineered these models for customers who want to own something very special indeed – a unique and stunning-looking camera but with all the exceptional and easy to use performance they expect from products in our high-end consumer portfolio.”
The new mirrorless 24 megapixel Hasselblad Lunar Limited Edition camera with its interchangeable lens facility incorporates 1080/60 video capability and a wide range ISO sensitivity allows the user to shoot in almost any light. Added Channer: “At a charity auction in Florida earlier this year two of our Lunar cameras went under the hammer for a mind-numbing $54,500 which rather puts the price of these exclusive limited edition versions into a little more perspective!”
