Mission Hill Family Estate is located in one of the world’s most exciting, emerging wine regions: British Columbia’s pristine Okanagan Valley.
A natural extension of the Pacific Northwest wine appellations, the region covers one full degree of latitude. From the 49th parallel on the Canada/US border, with vineyards extending north for roughly 200 km.
The Okanagan Valley
The southern part of the valley where many of the vineyards are located is the northern tip of the Sonora desert which comes up from Mexico. The valley has been renowned for over a century for its extraordinary fruit, from apples to peaches, and cherries to apricots and more recently, exceptional grapes. The wines are a bridge between the New and Old world, with wonderful natural acidity balancing ripe fruit, wines that are elegant and made to go with food.
Mission Hill Family Estate
At Mission Hill Family Estate our goal is to achieve the extraordinary. Majestic mountains, scenic lakes and lush orchards encase the winery’s dramatic architecture and culminate in a setting that celebrates wine, food and the arts. With sustainable practices that ensure care for the environment, and a timelessness that respects the von Mandl family’s European heritage, guests experience the height of winemaking in an incomparable mountaintop winery.
Sophisticated Wines for an International Audience
The Okanagan first appeared on the world stage in 1994 when Mission Hill Family Estate surprised the judges at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London and won the Trophy for “Best Chardonnay Worldwide”. Proprietor Anthony von Mandl has made a significant investment to produce high-end Bordeaux style reds working alongside the esteemed wine consultant Michel Rolland for more than 9 years. Mission Hill’s 2009 icon Oculus red was recently awarded 96 points and the winery is consistently recognized with many international awards including most recently being named Canada’s Winery of the Year.
Award-Winning Terrace Restaurant
Overlooking rows of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the seasonal Terrace Restaurant offers stylish, seasonal wine country fare to complement our wines. This spectacular culinary destination has been recognized by Travel + Leisure magazine as “one of the top five winery restaurants in the world.” Our Winery Chef is a pioneer in forging and designing ‘Cuisine de Terroir’ – wine country cooking with the freshest, locally grown, in-season ingredients. Our Chefs work hand-in-hand with local farmers and purveyors who grow organic produce and fruit specifically for the winery kitchens.
