A brand committed to the promotion of the art and culture in all expressions, Pineda Covalin is proud to both collaborate with and support MAI. Serving as a platform for immaterial art and long durational works, including those of performance art, dance, theater, film, music, opera, science, nature, technology, and undiscovered forms that may develop in the future, MAI is an incubator for collaboration among emerging and established individuals working in these fields.
The limited edition item will be available for purchase in Pineda Covalin boutiques worldwide starting mid-September 2014 (price available upon request.) A percentage of proceeds will be donated directly to MAI, which currently acts as an immaterial institute, hosting live events at partner venues, presenting collaborative projects, and educating the public about long durational works through its online platform, IMMATERIAL.
Pineda Covalin designer, Cristina Pineda, is thrilled to announce the release of the Pineda Covalin limited edition Marina Abramovic scarf and the collaboration with MAI, stating, “I had the pleasure of meeting Marina during the Pineda Covalin store opening in New York during our celebration of International Women’s Day and the launch of our second collaboration with UN-Women.” The designer expresses her respect and support of the revolutionary artist stating, “It was an honor to meet a woman filled with such artistic and human power, a woman who appreciates the true meaning of ‘simplicity’ and possesses the ability to transform the immaterial to tangible. We are proud to collaborate with Marina and celebrate her as an artist, as a woman, and above all, an incredible human being. Pineda Covalin is honored to work with Marina and support the work of the Institute.”
As Abramovic’s legacy, MAI is a platform that expands the accessibility of immaterial and long durational work and creates new possibilities for collaboration among thinkers of all fields.
