Star designers and influencers to judge the ALTO Design for Living awards

Star names from the world of design and luxury will judge the upcoming ALTO Design for Living awards. Celebrity interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard headlines the list of panelists in the luxury design and lifestyle magazine’s awards.

Judges announced for the ALTO Design for Living awards

CRN Yachts CEO and chairman Lamberto Tacoli and Laurent-Perrier UK managing director David Hesketh will also be judges. Leading designers as well as art and antique experts complete the line-up.

ALTO will award five prizes spanning luxury design and lifestyle. Categories include: designer/studio/brand/product of the year, emerging designer/studio/brand/product of the year, innovation of the year, retail experience of the year and travel experience of the year.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard, interior designer

Martyn

Los Angeles-based Martyn Lawrence Bullard has become one of the biggest names in interior design. His luxurious work for high-end clients has even resulted in him starring in television shows shown in the UK and US. Lawrence Bullard’s interiors for a 12th-century castle in Umbria featured in the 2014 summer issue of ALTO.

Lamberto Tacoli – chairman and CEO, CRN Yachts

Lamberto Tacoli serves as CEO and chairman of custom superyacht maker CRN. The luxury company was founded in 1963 and celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. Tacoli has been involved in the nautical scene since 1989, becoming chairman of CRN in 2006 and CEO in 2012.

Tara Bernerd – founder, Tara Bernerd & Partners

TARA

Interior designer Tara Bernerd is founder of her own London-based practice. She has led work on commercial and residential projects around the world in cities such as New York, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Peek into her own London home or the Pont St restaurant she designed.

Carmine Bruno – MD, 1stdibs International

CARMINE

Carmine Bruno is managing director of 1stdibs, a curated online marketplace for beautiful pieces from around the world. The website managed $1 billion in sales during 2013. Bruno was previously with art and antiques portal Online Galleries before the company was acquired by 1stdibs in 2012. He works closely with Michael Bruno, founder and director of the online store. Michael, of no familial relation to Carmine, featured in the 2014 summer issue of ALTO where he picked out some of his favourite pieces.

David Hesketh – master of wine and MD, Laurent-Perrier UK

David Hesketh started working with champagne brand Laurent-PerrierUK in 1996. He had served the brand’s Cuvée Rosé at his mother’s birthday party just a few months prior to that. Hesketh became the managing director of Laurent-PerrierUK in 1999.

John Hitchcox – co-founder and chairman, YOO

John Hitchcox founded design firm YOO with Philippe Starck. The pair celebrated 15 years of the company during the recent London Design Festival. YOO’s output comprises residential and commercial projects. The studio has also worked with the likes of Jade Jagger and Kelly Hoppen. YOO founders Starck and Hitchcox will feature in the upcoming winter issue of ALTO alongside the Design for Living awards.

Rebecca Davies – chief executive, LAPADA

Rebecca Davies became chief executive of LAPADA – The Association of Art and Antique Dealers earlier this year. The association is now in its 40th year. Davies was previously managing director of Mayfair art gallery Blain | Southern. She has presided over her first LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair this autumn.
