ANNUALLY IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER
Based around the celebration of flowers, the Phool Waalon Ki Sair festival takes place annually in Delhi and marks the end of the rainy season.
This three-day event showcases extravagant creations including large, colorful flower fans and costumes and a parade of locals carrying flowers from Chandni Chowk to Mehrauli. Orginating back to times when the Mughal Emperor ruled, it was recently by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1962 and has since been a successful annual celebration. Each year the festival draws celebrity’s and politicians alike, and almost always has an appearance from the current Prime Minister – an ideal festival to rub shoulders with famous faces who have an appreciation for Indian culture. The prayer of the event is to hope for even better weather next year to help flowers and crops flourish.
