Endeavoring to restore tourist influx to Egypt and improving the country’s image, Egypt Ministries of Tourism and Culture shall sponsor the third edition of “India on the Nile Festival” that will be held on the Nile from 30 March – 17 April 2015.
The festival will include some events featuring aspects of the Indian culture where Amitabh Bachchan the Bollywood star will be the guest of honor.
In a video spread on YouTube, Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his joy in visiting Egypt and participating in the opening of the third edition of the Cultural Indian Festival “India on the Nile”. He said: “Egypt is one of the countries I have always felt I belong to, and there is a saying about Egypt that if you drink the Nile water you will come back again to this country” pointing out that he drank a lot from the Nile which prompted him to come again enjoy the love from the Egyptian people. He also said that he was very happy to be the guest of honor at the festival which includes modern and classical music, dancing, theatrical shows and films.
Mr Kahlid Ramy, Egyptian Minister of Tourism is scheduled to coordinate with the Egyptian Minister of Culture and the Indian Ambassador in Cairo to hold a press conference in the presence of Amitabh Bachchan, to announce the kickoff of the festival on 31st March. Cinema shows will start in the evening at the foot of the pyramids.
Amitabh Bachchan’s visit to Cairo comes 24 years after his previous visit to Egypt which was in 1991.
