Burberry previewed its Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 collection at London’s Kensington Gardens yesterday in a custom built venue.
Guests included Burberry model and actress Suki Waterhouse, actors Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Claflin and John Boyega, models Clara Paget and Oscar Tuttiett, radio presenters Dermot O’Leary and Nick Grimshaw and musicians Tinie Tempah, Tom Meighan and Clare Maguire.
The latest collection offers a mix and sartorial menswear and original elements and also included Burberry’s traditional iconic pieces such as heritage trench coats made in Castleford and cashmere scarves made in Scotland.
This year’s collection included cotton lace, double-faced cashmere and English wool and mohair. Colors including black, navy, stone and mustard were all heavily featured, alongside accent of turquoise.
Models walked down the runway carrying the Burberry Barrow bag and cashmere scarves while wearing hand-painted Derby shoes, tassel loafers and square tortoiseshell sunglasses.
The Chelsea – a new tailored slim fit trench coat – made its debut on the runway, and is a new fourth fit for Burberry.
Also on the runway were a small selection of the women’s Spring/Summer 2016 Pre-Collection worn by British models Ella Richards and Malaika Firth, marking the first time Burberry included womenswear as part of the menswear show. Highlights from the womanswear collection included dresses in hand-applied floral macramé, Swiss and English-woven patchwork lace and The Bucket Backpack.
A selection of outwerwear – including the new Chelsea trench coat – will be available to be ordered and personalised for a week until 22 June on Burberry.com or by appointment in selected stores across the globe, allowing customers a rare chance to own pieces from the collection before they arrive in stores.
