Australian electric vehicle start up EVX have developed The Immortus – a limited edition bespoke luxury super car with a difference. Powered by solar power, The Immortus boasts the ability to run on power from the sun and store the energy for later, making it a car of practically and endurance.
While designing The Immortus the traditional approach to vehicle design was no longer valid. A new automotive engineering design team created a mix of solar challenge racers with the experience of what it take to drive a solar car across the continent, producing a car that focuses on leanness of mass without compromising safety.
It is the solar panels on the roof that make this car a contender for going long distances with its unique ability to charge from the sun while in motion. The combined battery and solar range is expected to be approximately 550 km at an average speed of 85km ph.
The Immortus is a half tone 40kW composite roadster and is able to carry two people with room for hand luggage. It can take its 5m by 2m body from 0-100km/hr in less than 7 seconds. Depending on certain conditions, it can run on an unlimited range of solar alone at over 60km/h.
The Immortus exhibits remarkable agility, speed and independence that comes from never needing to refuel.
