Established in 1812, Champagne Laurent-Perrier is one of the most distinguished family-owned Champagne Houses.
Based in the heart of Champagne, in Tours-sur-Marne, Laurent-Perrier has a pedigree for innovation, handcrafting a diverse and pioneering range of fine champagnes that are produced to traditional, time-honored methods. The House was acquired by the Nonancourt family in 1949 and for 50 years Bernard de Nonancourt dedicated his life to innovating and perfecting Laurent-Perrier champagne.
The success of Laurent-Perrier was also driven by the energy of Bernard de Nonancourt’s family – his two daughters Alexandra and Stéphanie joined the House in 1987 and are now members of the Management Board. Today, the House of Laurent-Perrier is one of the great success stories in Champagne, and is now the largest independent champagne brand worldwide.
Laurent-Perrier continues to apply an environmental policy in all its activities and takes major steps in managing its business in a sustainable manner and has implemented its environmentally-friendly policies in all fields of its activities. For example, vineyard activity at the Laurent-Perrier House is based on sustainable grape growing, respect for the environment and natural resources, and attaining a balance between biological and human factors. The 150 hectares of vines owned directly by Laurent‑Perrier are all kept with environmentally-friendly methods.
Under Bernard de Nonancourt’s leadership, Laurent-Perrier achieved many firsts, including the first multi-vintage prestige cuvee in 1959, Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier. The House was also the driver of the evolution of the rosé category, when Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé was first launched in 1968. Then, in 1981 Laurent-Perrier was the first House to reintroduce the concept of brut nature champagne with its Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut.
The elegant and prestigious Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier, in its curvaceous black-labelled bottle, represents the pinnacle of champagne blending, calling on wines from the finest Grand Cru growths and the very best vintages. Named after the 17th century when the ‘Sun King’ Louis XIV reigned, (a time when champagne found its place at the court of Versailles), Grand Siècle is a skillful blend of wines from complementary years, using 100% Grand Cru classified grapes and Laurent-Perrier’s finest vintages.
An inspiration of the late Head of the House of Laurent-Perrier, Bernard de Nonancourt, Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier was the first ever multi-vintage prestige cuvée to be introduced (in the Fifties). This alluring wine is the epitome of Laurent-Perrier’s pioneering approach to wine-making and dedication to the art of assemblage. As a “marriage” of different wines from vintage years, and aged for at least six years, this prestige cuvée has unique depth, finesse, complexity and consistency with a remarkable length of honeyed, nutty flavors. Its deliciously fresh flavors and remarkable depth make this a versatile accompaniment to an array of dishes with scallops, seabass, or turkey and black truffle sauce.
Crafted to specially hold the distinctive Grand Siècle bottle, the Champagne Aiguière has been delicately handmade by traditional Loire Valley pewtersmiths. The decorative yet clever design features a detachable cooling mat, which is discreetly placed inside the cradle. Simply remove the cooling mat from the base of the cradle and freeze for an hour before replacing for service.
Champagne Laurent-Perrier already holds many connections to the world of gastronomy, supporting the finest and most exciting culinary ventures. Served in many leading hotels, restaurants and bars across the world, Laurent-Perrier has long been a favorite of some of the finest sommeliers and chefs. The collaboration with Elite Traveler, a recognized and much respected source on restaurants, to create a guide to top eateries seeks to strengthen the brand’s position as the champagne of choice for epicures.
