A day in the history of Hotel Cipriani, Venice which will not be forgotten easily: the day Casamigos Tequila landed, the brainchild of actor George Clooney and restaurant and bar mogul, Rande Gerber.
George and Rande, who have been best friends for over 25 years, gifted their award-winning Casamigos Tequila to Hotel Cipriani on Wednesday afternoon, the same day that Clooney’s latest movie ‘Gravity’ opened the Venice Film Festival.
Cipriani is the first hotel in Europe to offer the tequila to guests, because of the deep affection that has bound Clooney to the spot over several years. All of the tequila was enjoyed and consumed by guests during the opening night of the Venice Film Festival. Casamigos is also currently working on major distribution throughout Europe.
Curious guests and paparazzi were greeted by the sight of the two friends unloading heavy cases of their award-winning tequila, citing their famous slogan ‘Brought To You By Those Who Drink It’.
Tequila-filled nights with friends is how Casamigos was born: “Our idea was to make the best-tasting, smoothest tequila whose taste didn’t have to be covered up with salt or lime,” say Clooney and Gerber.
Hotel Cirpriani’s Head Barman Walter Bolzonella, in homage to Casamigos Tequila, reinterpreted Clooney’s infamous ‘The Buonatte’ cocktail, created in 2005.
The newly named ‘Goodnight Amigos’ celebrates the original recipe which included lime, ginger and cucumber peel, with two added drops of Angostura and a tequila base for a new 2013 twist.
