Stay at a château in the French Riviera that Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher frequented.
Le Preverger, a 200-acre estate in the French Riviera that previously belonged to designer Laura Ashley and actress Jeanne Moreau, will be available for rent next April. It is the latest offering from luxury holiday company Karma Estates.
The Côte d’Azur estate has 18 bedrooms along with a helipad, vineyard, wine cellar and swimming pool. The whole property can be hired as a package in June, July and September. Individual rooms will also be available to rent during spring and fall.
Karma Royal Group CEO and chairman John Spence said: “It’s an old château going back to the 17th century. If walls could talk, the stories would be immense. You feel part of history.”
Laura Ashley and Jeanne Moreau were previous owners of Le Preverger. Moreau hosted names such as director Orson Welles, actress Brigitte Bardot and artist Pablo Picasso there. Princess Diana and former prime minister Margaret Thatcher are also among its previous guests.
Interior designer Nicky Haslam renovated the place. He has previously done work for Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich. His brief was to produce something new while maintaining Le Preverger’s character.
Spence said: “I wanted to be able to recognise the heritage of Laura Ashley, Jeanne Moreau and all the past inhabitants. I wanted everyone to speak.”
