The Petite Heure Minute by Jaquet Droz, unveiled in 2012, presented a new vision of femininity in watchmaking, with a case measuring just 35 mm in diameter and a change in scale for the hours and minutes dial, off-centered at twelve o’clock.
Today, the brand is extending the lineage of the Petite Heure Minute 35 mm with five new versions, each of which showcases the expert skills of the most skilled Jaquet Droz artisans. The dials, unique by definition, have been cut from mother-of-pearl or minerals and display exclusive colors that sing with every movement of the wrist.
At once intimate and elegant, the new versions cover day and evening wear with a choice of cases in stainless steel, white gold and red gold. Two models with stainless steel cases encompass all the possibilities that a day can hold. A disc of blue black aventurine claims the night, enhanced by diamonds which evoke a veritable crown of stars in a poetic journey that continues with a strap of equally intense blue. Meanwhile, the softness of dawn is embodied by another model, with a dial cut from a pale blue mother-of-pearl. The watch features 8 stars – a number and motif dear to Jaquet Droz – together with a bezel set with 160 diamonds. The white gold model has a white mother-of-pearl dial with a sunray structure that testifies to a feat of true craftsmanship when considering the sheer fragility of its natural material. Its blued steel hands echo the blue alligator leather strap.
Lastly, shades of garnet and rose in a “ruby heart” dial embrace the warm tones of a red gold case, ring, hands and ardillon buckle. The choice to use such precious materials is also on display in a version with dial, bezel and lugs entirely set with brilliant cut diamonds, in a beautiful equilibrium of metal and mineral accentuated by the iridescence of the rolled-edged hand-made satin strap.
