The Ultimate Weekend Getaway to British Columbia

By Chris Boyle

Aerial of Sonora ResortKeen to take in all that British Columbia has to offer while at the same time keeping it luxurious? From sea kayaking to grizzly bear spotting, Europe’s premier concierge club Knightsbridge Circle has put together an itinerary for the perfect break on Canada’s West Coast.

Day 1:

Arrive in Vancouver. Transfer to South Terminal of Vancouver Airport and fly on a seaplane from Vancouver to Great Bear Lodge, located on the central coast of British Columbia. There, you will enjoy tracking grizzly bears as they enjoy their favorite activity, feeding on the spawning salmon. You will spend the night in a newly built lodge, floating on a dock system connected to land.

Day 2:

After a full day of bear viewing you will embark on your seaplane to the next adventure at Sonora Resort. A brief seaplane flight will land you at your luxury Four Bedroom Villa on the water. Your day will be full of adventure in this pristine playground. Choices of activities at the resort will include sea kayaking in Desolation Sound, snorkeling with the salmon in Campbell River (as they fly upstream) or grizzly bear viewing. Tonight’s special event is a foodie’s dream, with cooking demonstration and instruction from Matt Stowe, Canada’s Top Chef.

Heli Fly FishingDay 3:

This morning you will board your private seaplane for the final full day of adventure in British Columbia. A scenic seaplane across Vancouver Island to the Pacific Coast will bring you to the luxury outpost tent camp called Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. Your activities today will include shooting white water on the Bedwell River in your river kayak in the morning, and – after lunch – horseback riding along the trails through the temperate rainforest. Other options include whale watching, salmon fishing, bear watching and hiking on the untouched beaches of Clayoquot Sound. This evening a massage will soothe your sore muscles and prepare you for a restful evening in your canvas prospector tent.

Day 4:

After three days of active adventures on BC’s beautiful west coast, you will fly on your final seaplane journey from Clayoquot Sound to Vancouver Airport.
