From Paris and St. Petersburg to Singapore and Guangzhou, Starwood’s hip W brand has been stretching steadily across the globe. Next up? W Verbier, the collection’s first alpine/ski resort, as well as its first Swiss property, due to open in December.
Just two hours from Geneva’s international airport, Verbier is a picture-perfect village of chalets nestled in the Swiss Alps. Already on offer are breathtaking scenery, seriously thrilling slopes (both groomed and off-piste), and high-energy nightlife. Equally beautiful and refreshing in summer, the locale shifts its focus to mountain biking, hiking, climbing, golf, and simply blissful relaxation as the weather warms.
Come December, the 123-room W will add to Verbier’s global appeal. In keeping with the region’s strict building codes (there’s a reason all those chalets look so quaint and lovely side by side), the property spans four adjacent, characteristic chalets, ideally placed next to the main gondola for super-easy slope access. Fifteen W-branded, full-service residences complete the property’s accommodation portfolio.
W fans will find all the familiar features and perks they’ve come to expect, from a design vibe that embraces local motifs without sacrificing W’s cool lifestyle persona (check out the first snaps released of a model room), to the collection’s signature Whatever/Whenever service (quite literally), to the Living Room lobby, Away Spa, Sweat fitness concept, and indoor/outdoor Wet pool deck.
On the foodie front, two-Michelin-star chef Sergi Arola, known for his modern, urban Spanish fare, will merge the very best of Spanish and Swiss flavors for a completely contemporary take on tapas.

By all indications, W’s first run at the slopes is shaping up to blow guests away, providing both sanctuary and highly social spaces in what is already a world-class ski (and après-ski) destination.
