Lepa Galeb-Roskopp, head designer of Misahara jewelry, was born into a bicultural milieu allowing her to experience different places around the world capturing the essence, landscape and colors of each town. She developed her own culture of creativity with her jewelry collections — a unique voice that is anchored in an ever lasting journey.
As an artist should, she is always envisioning the entire work of art and transferring it into material form which for her takes shape in exquisite rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and cufflinks. Her inspirations come from many sources — people, nature, colors, textures — and with homes in New York, California, South Africa and Porto Montenegro, her creations are reminiscent of every experience she endures. She reinterprets the classical in her own contemporary mode and, at the same time, proposes new, clear directions for jewelry. Drawing on her inspirations of the beauty and history of the African Homestead and at the same time, the modern day fashion in the streets of New York City, Paris and London. She composes a collection of jewelry with the sensibilities of both the past and the present with a keen eye on the future. The former Yugoslavia region—a place she considers ‘home’ and the epicenter of her rich heritage, inspired her second collection, The Adriatic. “Growing up, the Adriatic region was such a magical place and I loved going there as a child with my family. Now, we bring our children there so they can experience the many natural beauties that Porto Montenegro has to offer. It is a place where my soul and inner creative eye comes alive.”
Lepa Galeb-Roskopp casted a team of collaborators around the world to execute and develop her vision for Misahara. She has chosen New York City to established her atelier where one-of-a kind handcrafted treasures are produced by experienced artisans who have worked with some of the world’s most prestigious jewelry houses. The company is lead by CEO, Janice Winter who is established in NY where the flagship boutique is located (New York Plaza Hotel); the board of executive directors is based between Los Angeles, New York and Paris. As well an extensive team of collaborators in San Francisco, London and Porto Montenegro are working for the company established in 2011.
Misahara’s panel of employees is the reflection of what the company stands for: a world journey made of a greater diversity of united human beings who are offering their experiences and personalities to serve a modern fine jewelry house. The element of being united is a strong component of Misahara, which is why the Unity symbol is imprinted on all of the pieces.
