Inside the $139m Bel Air Party Pad

Property of the Week: The mega mansion features a cigar lounge, vodka tasting room, cinema and nightclub.

By Ellys Woodhouse

In the City of Angels, it takes a lot to take us by surprise. How much do you ask? Well in La Fin’s case, $139m. Perched in the hills of the ritzy Bel Air neighborhood, the nearly 40,000-sq-ft mega mansion takes opulence to the next level – impressive in a neighborhood that is home to some of the most expensive real estate in the US.

A name like La Fin, meaning ‘the end’ in French, may sound a bit ominous – especially when describing a property that could double as a Bond villain lair. Perhaps it got its name because it wants to be the end of your property haunt or (maybe more likely) the end to a raucous good night.

The estate’s entire lower level is dedicated to entertainment and wellness, with more features and amenities than most luxury hotels. Fair to say there’s plenty to keep you and guests entertained: from the state-of-the-art wine cellar that features a stunning Murano glass installation, to the climate-controlled cigar lounge, nightclub, sleek vodka tasting room and soundproof cinema.

Of course, this is LA, so it can’t all be about riotous hedonism – at least not without a green juice served on the side. The property’s fully equipped fitness center includes a climbing wall, Peloton bikes, steam room and a spa, so you can right (almost) any of last night’s wrongs.

Outside, if the property’s panoramic views of Los Angeles weren’t enough, La Fin’s infinity-edge pool overlooks a 23-ft retractable LED screen – perfect for backyard hosting.

With 12 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms, you won’t have to worry about space for after-party sleepovers. Decore is perhaps more Middle Eastern extravagance than California cool: with gold accents, shiny marble flooring and a showstopping 44-ft crystal chandelier.

The primary suite – or more accurately wing – of the property features lacquered Italian oak walls, a Portuguese marble fireplace and walk-in closets that wouldn’t look out of place on Rodeo Drive. The spa-like ensuite bathroom is made from bookmatched Calacatta gold marble, a 100-sq-ft shower, and a soaking tub carved from a single block of stone.
