As part of AltaRomAltaModa , the third edition “Room Service”, curated by Simonetta Gianfelici, was held last week across 17 rooms within the Belle Epoque swirls of the Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, one of the most fabled meeting places in Europe.
In addition to a preview of the 2013-2014 F/W collections, in a three day event from 25 to 27 January, guests participated in an exclusive, private sale of the designers’ 2013 S/S collections, plus the option of made to order and made to measure services. The aim of “Room Service” is to restore designers with an identity of their own, celebrating the value of their products and uniting the artisanal tradition of “Made-in-Italy” with contemporary luxury.
The venture offers a new platform for exposure and sales, far removed from the logic of globalization, where the label does not act as a substitute for the object. Participating designers and fashion brands included Alessandro D’amico, Delfrance-Ribeiroc, Cosima and Stefano d’Inzillo, and Giulia Gobbi. Guests shopped and socialised amidst some of the most beautiful creations Italy has to offer, whilst experiencing all the luxuries of world standard hotellerie.
