This fall marks the launch of a new event, A Celebration of Bespoke Luxury. Organized by Katie Fong, an innovative luxury women’s designer, A Celebration of Bespoke Luxury will showcase the thriving business of bespoke luxury fashion and integrated lifestyle.
The invitation-only event will take place on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, September 10 in the elegant Dior Suite at The St. Regis New York, which was designed to evoke Christian Dior’s eponymous values and collections as well as its legendary headquarters on Avenue Montaigne headquarters in Paris.
Following on the heels of a long-standing and recent resurgence of the atelier tradition in Europe, within established couture houses and otherwise, there is a quieter but growing interest in bespoke fashion and lifestyle in New York City and other locations. Bespoke customization allows customers to fit clothes, shoes, accessories and other lifestyle elements to their own requirements and tastes and often reflects a more exacting and higher standard of materials and artisan craftsmanship.
Greg Furman, Founder and Chairman of The Luxury Marketing Council, notes, “All major research on the luxury market and luxury customer shows that the most sophisticated, affluent buyers are becoming more participative in the ways in which they buy luxury products and services. Bespoke buying, meaning personalization, customization and allowing best customers to influence the shape of products and services are now commonplace. The smartest luxury marketers are creatively engaging elite buyers to “surprise and delight” them at levels of participation not dreamed of a decade ago. This is particularly true among millennial allover the world who increasingly demand participatory luxury experiences with high levels of personalized customer service at the expense of aggressive signature branding.”
A Celebration of Bespoke Luxury, hosted by Katie Fong and Krug Champagne, will feature approximately ten companies, including Hayden Lasher, Katie Fong, Rendor & Steel, Sew NYC, Vogel Boots and Wowhaus, which will be demonstrating and selling their products and services.
Katie Fong, founded in 2012, evolved from a family tradition of entrepreneurship and creativity. The Company, based in the Fashion District of New York City, has formed, in addition to a growing ready-towear line, a partnership within Richards and Wilkes Bashford, members of the Mitchells Family of Stores, to design custom women’s day and eveningwear. Many of Katie Fong’s designs incorporate a signature usage of lace and beading. All of the Company’s clothes are made within a five-block radius of its studio.
