The new Kiton Spring Summer collection offers a distinctively Italian journey through the vivid sun-kissed contrasts of the Bay of Naples.
The entire collection is inspired by the desire to create a new type of daywear that combines casual clothing and high quality tailoring, designed for women who are practical, elegant, feisty and dynamic.
Like the city of Naples, contrasts attract each other and coexist in a magic, unique, distinctive harmony which can be encapsulated in a single word: Beautiful. This magical process has led to the creation of trapezoid outerwear made of black & white waterproof silk, entirely hand-sewn short silk dresses with bold sailor stripes, nautical style pullovers with horizontal micro stripes and boat necks made of incredibly light silk and cotton yarn.
Bold check and hound’s-tooth textures in pastel colours or black and white are the underlying themes of overcoats and coats with clear-cut elegant lines, such as the historic Ciro model, the favourite outerwear of the Kiton President Paone which has been restyled in its aesthetic essence and adapted to the female figure.
The sunsets of the Amalfi coast provide the palette for the structured light coats made of cashmere or double silk in powder pinks and powder blues. A range of sorbet shades that conjure up the scents of earth and water enliven the knitwear and silks of the blouses and long dresses in lemon yellow combined or juxtaposed with lettering in shades of stone grey.
The historic archives of Kiton’s men’s neckwear provide the designs for women’s blouses with micro-patterns whose dominant colours range from light blues to strawberry.
The jacket is the symbol of Kiton tailoring and is engrained in the DNA of the historic fashion house based in Arzano. Both double and single-breasted jackets, with one or two buttons, feature in the summer 2015 collection in linen and silk, in a wide range of original colours that include numerous shades of blue, light blue, green, more serious greys and even magenta, coral and apricot..
The complex and extraordinary Kiton tailoring techniques have also been applied to leather. Examples include cut-work macramé trench coats and the completely black studded jacket softened by ruffles and lace detailing in matching colours.
The starring role of Kiton evening wear is played by white. Long dresses with soft drapery are decorated with embroidery and floral decorations, celebrating beauty in its most classical sense. White is also the colour of women’s tuxedos in an original version featuring a jacket with silver silk peak lapels.
The key word for the Kiton collection is understated poise: pure, tangible lines, forms with expertly designed contrasts of materials and colours that enhance the essence of female elegance with harmony.
