La Prairie Celebrates Anniversary of Skin Caviar Collection

By Elite Traveler

By Kristen Shirley

This story originally appeared in the September/October 2017 issue of Elite Traveler.

La Prairie has mastered the art of caviar in its covetable products, continually innovating and using it in new ways. Now, on the 30th anniversary of skin caviar, it turns to artists Paul Coudamy, Bonjour LAB, Cinq Fruits and TremensS, and gives them the opportunity to express what caviar means to them through their work.

The exhibit initially launched with a preview at the brand’s VIP lounge at Art Basel with a work from architect Paul Coudamy, who installed a geometric sculpture, Living Cells, inspired by the Weaire-Phelan structure—a 3D shape representing an idealized foam of equally-sized bubbles. The magnetic marbles draped over the “bubbles” seemed to be glossy caviar, and Coudamy says each magnet is placed by hand so the arrangement will never be the same twice.

After a full showing in Paris in July, September brought the exhibit to New York City, before continuing to Hong Kong and Shanghai.
