Las Vegas, the entertainment mecca of the world besides playing host to gamblers in its mega casinos and hotels is also the top three leading destinations in the U.S. for mega conventions. Hence, it is entirely apropos that it should play host annually to the largest jewelry tradeshow in North America, the JCK Las Vegas, located in the sprawling exhibit halls of Mandalay Bay right on The Strip. The jewelry on exhibit is by any measure the largest assortment available in one locale in the U.S. from where retailers stock up for the all-important Christmas and Holiday season.
For 2014, Lazare Kaplan exhibited its 100-Carat Diamond and Platinum Necklace. With a price tag in the neighborhood of four million dollars, the necklace drew the curiosity and attention of retailers and manufacturers and was subsequently awarded the Platinum Guild International (PGI USA) Buyers’ Choice award in the Red Carpet category. In support of its hefty price tag, the necklace features a 7.25-carat D/VVS1 pear-shaped Lazare Kaplan centerpiece suspended from a sequence of diamonds ranging from 5+ to 0.40 carats. The hand-made setting is all platinum, applied with the finest craftsmanship to create a work of art that highlights the brilliance of each diamond.
Winning the award is gratifying to Lazare Kaplan particularly when it comes on the heels of having won the same award in 2013 for its stunning 110th Anniversary Necklace, a classic 63.20-carat diamond and platinum piece.
The PGI USA awards are judged for innovation and craftsmanship in platinum design of bridal and fashion jewelry. The awards are presented in eight categories and Lazare’s 100-carat Necklace was submitted for nomination in the Platinum Red Carpet Jewelry category.
