Robert Graham to Open First New York City Store

By Chris Boyle

Robert GrahamRobert Graham has announced the opening of its first store and flagship location in New York City at 380 Bleecker Street in the West Village.

The new 1,260 square-foot store will carry the complete range of Robert Graham collection, including men’s sportswear, outerwear, premium denim, furnishings, accessories, and women’s sportswear.

This location is the brand’s fifth location to open this year, signaling a significant retail expansion for Robert Graham. The brand currently operates eleven stores across the US.

“Robert Graham is very excited to open our first store in New York City on Bleecker Street,” said Michael Buckley, chief executive officer of Robert Graham.

“The West Village neighborhood represents one of the liveliest areas of Manhattan and we look forward to offering our customers, including both locals and tourists alike, the full Robert Graham experience.”

The brand chose the West Village neighborhood, and Bleecker street in particular, because of its well-edited roster of high fashion stores and brands, while maintaining an intimate shopping experience unlike any other in the city.

robert graham2_“The location of our new store is particularly perfect as my first ever New York apartment was just around the corner,” said Robert Stock, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Robert Graham.

“In designing the store, we drew inspiration from vintage New York City and the eclectic feel of the neighborhood, all while remaining true to the Robert Graham brand and lifestyle. Customers should expect the unexpected; the new store offers a treasure trove of finely curated antiquities and apparel.”

The design of the new store features a vintage look and feel, illustrated by custom fauxtin painting, hand-picked carpeting, LED-based lighting designed to be harmonious with the saturated color palette intrinsic to the brand, and hand-sewn velvet and silk curtains discovered across the world that have been created exclusively for Robert Graham.

With travel being an important source of inspiration for the brand, the store design team has created shelves composed of vintage suitcases that were hand-selected and placed on brackets.

In an effort to combine the elements that make up the Robert Graham lifestyle, including color, vibrancy, art, and a penchant for worldly travel, the new store will also feature the brand’s iconic patchwork sofa, created with sari fabric from India, a chair made entirely of roughly 300 shirts from past collections, and tables constructed out of vintage automobile hoods as well as with airplane pedals from a rare Douglas C-133 aircraft – tying into the brand’s affinity for vintage cars.

In support of the new store’s grand opening, Robert Graham has created a calendar of events and activations to create buzz and drive brand awareness, including a dedicated advertising and marketing campaign as well as a line up of weekends in December (7, 14 and 21) in which customers can enjoy light bites and wine through the holiday season.

The store’s hours of operation are Mon-Sat from 11am-8pm, and Sun from 11am-7pm.
