The success of Swarovski lies in its exceptional ability to combine contemporary designs with glamour and tradition, time and again. This has cemented Swarovski’s reputation as the world’s leading producer of precision-cut crystal for fashion, jewelry and more recently lighting, architecture and interiors.
In 1895, Daniel Swarovski industrialized the crystal cutting process by inventing the first machine to cut and polish crystal stones. He paved the way for a tradition of excellence, carefully upheld and passed down over five generations.
Swarovski has developed an incredible palette that includes 150 crystal colors and effects and 400 cuts carefully designed to capture, reflect, and radiate light in an array of stunning ways. Shaping, faceting, polishing and coating are just come of the processes a crystal can go through before receiving the Swarovski label.
Swarovski’s attention to detail ensures that each and every piece is of the highest quality. This expertise permeates throughout every step of the creative process, from the initial design sketches to assembling the pieces, applying the crystals and mixing the metals.
Through a constant quest for innovation, Swarovski has developed an unrivalled knowledge of crystal and an acute intuition to showcase it in all its splendor. This unique heritage is infused into every piece, giving it the sparkle and modernity that makes Swarovski so instantly recognizable.
Since 1976, with the introduction of the crystal mouse figurine, Swarovski has continued to expand its Crystal Living collection, creating luxurious masterpieces. Swarovski’s Crystal Living offers collectible designs that exude emotional charm and make great gifts.
This year in celebration of the year of the horse, Swarovski and designer Heinz Tabertshofer created the Black Stallion, a 2014 exclusive Designer Edition piece. The Black Stallion impresses with its innovative mix of cut black crystal and carbon. It stands on a black granite base with shiny legs coated in black PVD metal. This figurine is limited to only 888 numbered pieces and is delivered in a premium blue suitcase with a certificate of authenticity. Each of these sculptures is individually numbered and hand signed by the designer.
“The Black Stallion epitomizes beauty, strength, and elegance,” explains Heinz Tabertshofer. “The use of black cut crystal enabled me to express the power, dynamics, and aesthetics of these beautiful creatures.”
This work of art is a true representation of Swarovski’s unsurpassed craftsmanship and uncompromised quality.
