Before heading to New York for her return to Broadway in the revival of The Trip to Bountiful, the multi-faceted Vanessa Williams had her own trip to bountiful. She and her beau escaped to Puerto Vallarta for a romantic Valentine’s Day rendezvous at Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa.
“The Garza Blanca experience was an exotic and convenient getaway for a romantic weekend,” Williams revealed to me. “Our first morning we went on a vigorous hike in the jungle that ended at a beautiful waterfall and river. We passed a yoga class on a nearby deck and then headed to an afternoon in a private cabana on the beach for margaritas and lunch. On another morning we kayaked out to a boat and went fishing along the coast. After our lunch was caught we sailed to Los Arcos and went snorkeling. Each night our dinners were very intimate, be it at the elegant steakhouse on the hill, the beach serenaded by a jazz quartet, and a private penthouse complete with a Latin dance show while a celebrity chef cooked us a fantastic meal. We even stared that evening off with a Tequila tasting.”
On their second day, two couple ventured to Hamara Spa, where they opted for the hot stone couples massage.
“The treatment was top notch using aromatherapy oils and we really enjoyed the natural breeze with the doors wide open at our request,” Williams said. “We should’ve gone back for more services but there just want enough time!”
Plus there was a three-bedroom suite to enjoy. Their spectacular oceanfront suite was highlighted by an outdoor hot tub where they relaxed and gazed at the stars.
“The three-bedroom suite at Garza Blanca was ideal for falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves crashing below our balcony,” she said. “We relaxed in the hammock then ate breakfast al fresco at the dining room table – while hoping to spot migrating whales at sea. And we did see one! The room was even equipped with a washer and dryer to stay on top of our used workout gear. And each night there was a romantic display of rose petals and towels shaped as swans to greet us.

“On Valentine’s night we returned to our room and a rose-petaled bubble bath had been drawn along with the room lit by soft glowing candles. There were even his and hers sun hats for our use to protect us at the beach. And if there was anything else we needed, our butler Valenzo was always ready for any wish to be granted.”
