FP Journe Exhibit by The 1916 Company to Launch in Miami

The collection will feature over 60 of the watch brand’s most collectible timepieces.

By Kim Ayling

In honor of watchmaking legend François-Paul Journe and his eponymous brand, The 1916 Company – a global watch collection community and platform – has announced the launch of a traveling FP Journe exhibit.

Set to begin at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami on February 29, Generations: A Timeline of FP Journe by The 1916 Company brings together over 60 of the brand’s rarest timepieces in celebration of its horological excellence.

Founded in 1999, FP Journe is, by watch industry standards, infantile (several brands can date their legacy back to the 1700s). However, what it lacks in history it famously makes up for in its stellar reputation pioneering technical work and modern interpretation of time-honored techniques.

Highlights of the collection include some of F.P. Journe’s most collectible pieces, such as the brand-defining Tourbillon Souverain ‘Souscription’ Series No. 13/20, a ‘pre-souscription’ Chronomètre à Résonance, and a complete Ruthenium set.

Following two days at the Four Seasons, during which collectors and enthusiasts alike are invited to view the display as well as purchase, the exhibit will move to The 1916 Company’s Collector’s Lounge in the Miami Design District where it will be on display for a further two days.

After its initial stint in The Magic City, Generations will travel from coast to coast before eventually settling in New York, where it will become part of The 1916 Journe Gallery, a perpetual collection of FP Journe’s timepieces.

“François-Paul Journe is one of the most talented and inventive watchmakers, constantly addressing the push and pull between perfecting a historical craft and looking to the future. Collectors around the world and across The 1916 Company community have taken note,” said Danny Govberg, co-founder of The 1916 Company.

“Journe continues to create, and we continue to discover his masterpieces. As such, The 1916 Journe Gallery will be established in our New York lounge as an ever-evolving collection destined to reach new wrists.”
