Spell-bound by the lush beauty of this Maldivian island, the developers of this ultra-luxurious Anantara resort did not cut one tree down during its construction.
The resort excels in a number of areas, but none more so than in its wellness offering. Working in tandem with nature, the spa has developed a range of treatments that harness the healing properties of indigenous fruits and plants. The spa has six treatment rooms, all overwater and offering Indian Ocean views.
When it comes to a night’s sleep, the Three-bedroom Double-pool Beach Residence is the best in the resort. Here, up to nine adults can enjoy private access to an infinity pool, Jacuzzi and fitness center.
Whilst the suite’s own spa facilities do not benefit from the same ocean views that the resort’s main spa does, it is rectified by the serene privacy that is so embedded throughout the suite. Combining the in-suite spa facilities with that of the resort, the Three-bedroom Double-pool Beach Residence was selected in Elite Traveler’s inaugural Top 50 Wellness Suites index.
Tucked within vibrant foliage, the residence leads directly onto a private stretch of beach. Views of the white sand and mesmerizing turquoise waters poke through the greenery that engulfs the villa and work together to create a blanket of private island paradise.
Everything about the Three-bedroom Double-pool Beach Residence, from the subtle blue and white interiors to the round-the-clock private villa host, is of utmost luxury in one of the world’s most beautiful settings.
Our favorite feature? The stargazing opportunities are provided at the SKY Over Water observatory, which features the islands’ most refined telescope. The lack of light pollution means this part of the Maldives offers a vivid night-sky experience, from dashing pink sunsets to star-filled nights.
The villa, which comes with its own private chef and wine guru, is so glorious in its lavish detailing that you won’t want to explore the resort. But you should; as it is packed with unmissable experiences, from tastings in the underwater wine cellar to exploring the gorgeous marine life with Anantara’s leading snorkeling facilities. A leisurely swim in the turquoise waters not only offers a gentle workout but also reveals the underwater marvels of one of the best house reefs in the Maldives, a truly therapeutic experience.

What attracted you to your position at the hotel?
I take immense pride in my role as the cluster general manager overseeing three esteemed Minor Hotels' resorts in the Maldives, including the prestigious Anantara Kihavah. Anantara Kihavah has established a strong presence in the market, embodying the world-class standards of the Anantara brand. It’s a privilege to carry Anantara Kihavah's legacy forward and enhance its reputation. Guiding this award-winning resort into its next chapter alongside our exceptional team, and continuously enhancing the guest experience to ensure they leave with amazing memories is an opportunity I am eager to seize. The idea of contributing to the island’s development and preservation so that guests always have something new to look forward to and can enjoy the island’s natural beauty is truly fulfilling. Additionally, living in the Unesco Baa Atoll, within a beautiful island resort boasting the best house reef in the Maldives, is a fantastic bonus.
What should Elite Traveler readers expect from a VIP experience at the hotel?
We've implemented several initiatives and rituals with indigenous touches to fully personalize our guests' experience, catering to new and repeat guests alike. We strive to maintain and increase our 'wow' factors for our guests.
As soon as guests arrive, they will be welcomed by the rhythm of local boduberu drummers and offered a fresh 'young coconut' or Kihavah, after which the island is named. As our guests, a dedicated Villa Host will ensure the residence is immaculate at all times, attend to requests, and anticipate your needs. We conduct a plaque unveiling ceremony, with the residence fully named after yours, as well as a sabering ceremony. Another signature welcome feature is a foot ritual for all guests upon check-in, along with special VIP amenities. With personal chefs, private wine guru (sommelier), and babysitting service on request, a stay in one of these residences is a promise of a truly private escape.
Anantara Kihavah stands out for its ability to capture the essence of its destination and provide guests with exceptional experiences. This is reflected in the high number of our repeat guests, who consistently express satisfaction with the resort, and most importantly our esteemed residences.
Lastly, the warmth and sincerity of our hospitality here at Anantara Kihavah create a connection with guests and ensure they leave with unforgettable memories.
