The Brando has a magic about it. Best known as Marlon Brando’s private island, perhaps it’s the Hollywood connection; more likely it’s that same immeasurable natural beauty that first captured the heart of the star while filming Mutiny on the Bounty in the 1960s. This encounter not only gave rise to one of the planet’s most exclusive private island resorts, but also a fierce devotion to protecting the flora-and-fauna-rich 12-islet atoll on which The Brando is located. The nearly carbon neutral resort has hosted everyone from Barack Obama to Leonardo DiCaprio. We couldn’t say which of The Brando’s 35 villas they resided in, but the two-story Teremoana Residence is the most magnificent. Secluded from the resort, it offers 3,000 sq ft of Polynesian grandeur. The three bedrooms are pleasingly private, while the outdoor space is awash with inviting nooks to gather with loved ones. Complete with butler, staff bedroom and a kitchen for chef-prepared beach picnics and seafood feasts, it makes for a truly special stay.
