The Suite
Though refurbished and deftly contemporary in its aura and offerings, landmark Raffles Singapore reigns as one of the world’s most quixotic purveyors of bygone times. Opened in 1887, the hotel continues to reflect romance through its stories, teakwood halls, exquisite antiques and liveried doormen. After a Singapore Sling in the legendary Long Bar, unpack in The Sarkies Suite. Planted in the Main Building and elegantly appointed, it emanates an airy residential feel. Sip tea on the suite’s sun-dappled veranda while your butler unpacks the contents of your Louis Vuitton trunks and hangs your clothing neatly in the large walk-in wardrobe.
The Hotel
Raffles Singapore is not just a grand dame hotel in Singapore, it is one of the world’s oldest luxury hotels. Staying here transports you to another, more gracious era of travel. The hotel retains much of its original charm, including its landmark white facade with neo-Renaissance architecture, dark wood verandas and lush greenery. It reopened in 2019 after an extensive two-year renovation that restored the hotel to its former glory; it looks as if it just opened in 1887, but now with all of the amenities and options that modern travelers expect. There are luxury boutiques; world-class dining in six restaurants with new openings from famed chefs Alain Ducasse, Ann-Sophie Pic and Jereme Leung, plus the beloved Tiffin Room, which has been open since 1892; three bars, including the iconic Long Bar with a new Singapore Sling recipe updated for today’s palate; a luxurious spa and a rooftop pool.
